Good-Bye Bible Tunes, Hello Little Bible Tunes!

“Little Sophia playing piano with Gram”

Hello! Welcome to Little Bible Tunes! My name is Judy Troyer, creator of our Bible Tunes website, now known as Little Bible Tunes. We’ve got a whole new look and are making some big changes, but more about that later. You may wonder why a Gramma would start a website with songs for little kids. Well, here’s where it all started…

Family Thanksgiving Fun

I must have been born with a passion for music because I remember begging for piano lessons for what seemed like forever! My mom finally set me up with a wonderful piano teacher at age 7. She taught me a as much as she could, then moved me over to a brilliant teacher at Wittenberg College. Mom never had to remind me to practice because I loved playing so much! What a joy being able to share that talent throughout my whole life playing solos, accompanying singers, choirs, and instrumentalists.

Just a little family Heart and Soul

But even with 13 years of training, I never considered myself a creative person and had not been able to write music (other than a dorky country song, “Lord, Have Mercy, Thank God I’m alive.” My sister and I concocted that crazy tune riding back from our first Feast at the Lake of the Ozarks in the early 70s.) At some point, I got to thinking that since I enjoy arranging music, maybe I could rewrite a song I already knew. Whoa, that was fun! After a couple rearrangements, something sparked in my brain, and I got an idea for an original song – my very own song! Yep, I was hooked! I started writing songs from scripture for my little grandkids and the idea for Bible Tunes was born!

Kev, Em, Jen, and me singing special music

Realizing I couldn’t go this alone, I quickly enlisted the help of my youngest daughter because she also loves to write music and has the sweet voice of an angel. Emily Smith home-schools/cares for her four beautiful daughters, incorporating music and art into their curriculum. Emily was born to write music, evidenced by her first real song at three years of age. I’m pretty sure she wrote this on our trip to Palm Springs to keep the Feast there! Emily also plays piano and guitar, accompanying herself and husband as they sing duets. She composed an entire album from the book of Psalms during their year in Jordan. The solitude and historically rich environment inspired such favorites as “Have Mercy on Me” and “What Is Man,” quite a step up from “The Wacky Wacko’s Back!”

It’s hard to believe that we’re getting ready to celebrate our fifth anniversary!  Yikes! FIVE!!! That was exactly 5 grandbabies ago.  Now, what better way to celebrate than to add the word “Little” to Bible Tunes and launch our Little Bible Tunes Blog! I’m so excited! Once again, I realized that we would need more help. So, I asked my daughter-in-law, Ashley Troyer, if she would be willing to join our team. And she agreed! An experienced teacher, full-time mother of two rough-and-tumble boys and a spunky little girl, home-school teacher, calligrapher, photographer, excellent cook, organizer, gardener, home designer, so many talents! Ashley’s love for people and especially children shines through everything she does.

Ash and her awesome family

And finally, Jennifer Conrad, my oldest child, will round out our Little Bible Tunes Blog team. I’m thrilled at the prospect of her contributions. Her two awesome teenage sons are a tribute to her excellent mothering skills. She held down the fort as their military family frequently moved about the country. And in her “spare” time, she managed to finish her bachelor’s degree and nail down her dream job working on high school exchange programs for the State Department. Of course, she gives God all the glory for providing a pathway of opportunities. I always think of her as the light of the party because there’s never a dull moment when she’s around! I still laugh when I think of some of her stories about her pregnancies, or the infamous elbow grease. Haha! I’ll let her tell you some day

Please join in our celebration as we launch Little Bible Tunes. And enjoy our scripture-based, fun little songs, unique videos, scripture puzzles, and art projects!
